ONLINE SHOPPERS DISLIKE SLOW DELIVERY TIMES AND WANT SAME DAY DELIVERY IN THE NEAR FUTURE
As online retailing continue to rise, the pressure increases on retailers to deliver items to customers speedily.
According to a recent study, ‘same day delivery’ is the single feature that’s desired by online shoppers.
The study, conducted by affiliate network Awin asked 2,000 UK adults, who all shopped online, what they most wanted and what they most expected to see happen in the next five years.
The study reported:
- 64% named same-day delivery
- Followed by drone or robot delivery 49%
- Basket predictions and auto re-ordering was popular with 52%
- Virtual changing rooms scored highly at 49%
- Interestingly the concept of payment using cryptocurrency ranked high at 39%.
When asked what drew them to shop online, the top answers were ‘it’s easy’ (21%), ‘I can compare prices/products across different stores quickly’ (19%) and ‘better deals to be had’ (17%).
Conversely, the things Britons disliked most about shopping online were ‘slow delivery times’ (26%), ‘not being able to check sizing’ (23%) and ‘it isn’t sociable’ (16%).
AMAZON DELIVERING FASTER Meanwhile Amazon USA has announced plans to spend $800 million to cut shipping times to one day for Amazon Prime members. Chief Financial Officer Brian Olsavsky said Amazon was investing heavily to make Prime shipping faster. “This is all about the core two-day offer evolving into a free one-day offer.”
Olsavsky described the initiative as “the best deal in retail”.
