As was widely reported in the press Royal Mail workers have voted in favour of national strike action in a dispute over job security and terms and conditions of employment. Members of the Communication Workers Union (CWU) backed action by 97% in a turnout of nearly 76%.

Royal Mail have issued a statement to say that there will be no impact to postal services – it will be business as usual, and they will continue to accept, process and deliver mail for customers.

Royal Mail were also keen to point out that the ballot result for industrial action does not necessarily mean there will be industrial action, and that they are still in mediation with the CWU. Royal Mail say they are committed to reaching a resolution.
